ccWow! Was it really a year ago today that Ben woke us up in the middle of the night to say he was ready to be born? I still remember calling Deta around 1am to ask her to come watch Sam so we could make our way to St. Luke’s hospital. Many hours later (and a little assistance from our fabulous OB, Dr. Dryden) we welcomed our second son into the world.
As Scott and I glanced through the pictures from the past year, it’s hard to believe how far he’s come. Hurricane Ike blew through Houston when Ben was only 2 weeks old and we should have known from that experience what a “go with the flow” child he would be. He’s eaten anything and everything that has ever been put in front of him (even eggs that poisoned him) and has cut a record 10 (6 at once) teeth in his short life. He’s blown through the growth charts and pleased his mother like you wouldn’t believe by having his 1st word be “mama”. He had the most unique crawl I’ve ever witnessed (spider baby!) and has drawn in strangers with his smile from the earliest days.
I love observing him from a distance especially when he’s playing with Sam. He’s so curious, determined & engaged in how things work…and boy does he love and look up to his big brother!
Ben is such a BRIGHT star in our life.
We love & adore you sweet & gentle Ben. We look forward to seeing where life takes you!
