The cutest cowboy!
cc
cc
ccThis morning we took the boys to the Houston Rodeo. Ben wore his cowboy hat (thank you Burdick Family for allowing us to borrow it) and thought it was the funniest thing to have it on. Maybe that’s because everyone that looked at him (including Scott & I) laughed out loud! Sam had a great time in the petting zoo, riding a pony, hanging out on tractors and having fun at the kid’s carnival. Unfortunately, something rubbed Sam the wrong away about 1 ½ hours into our trip and the terrible twos (or shall I say terrible threes) came out for a visit. We shoved Sam in the stroller and made a very loud getaway. Gotta love the rodeo!

A Future Doctor
BANG!
cc
cc
ccScott & Sam left the house at 7:15 this morning to watch a building implode near the Galleria. Apparently it was quite the scene with people handing out toy dynamite for the kids. Scott said he wasn’t sure which of them jumped higher (I have a feeling it was Scott) when the initial dynamite exploded. After the building came crashing down, Sam told Scott, “That was cool”. Hilarious! Sam’s also already insisted that we check out the site tomorrow when the weather is better.

Boys…they just love to see things explode
Another puzzle, please...

Where's Anna?

Many people often ask where I (Anna) am on the blog. I’m the photographer of the family so you just have to “imagine” that I’m there.
Over the past few months, Sam has become very interested in taking pictures. So those of you that want to see me on the blog…you will…courtesy of our 3-year-old. Oh, and don’t expect too much. They are taken by a toddler.
What are chicks (and I don't mean girls) doing at Memorial Park?

On Tuesday, after school, we met some friends at Memorial Park. When we arrived we saw baby chicks wandering the playground. After some investigation, we discovered that a little girl brought them with her. Sam & Renato (especially Renato!) couldn’t get enough of these small creatures though the chicks were a little traumatized by the intense affection of 3-year-olds!

Transportation Day
cc
cc
ccEvery year Sam’s school holds a transportation day. This year I volunteered and got to see how excited all the kiddos were as they saw the vehicles for the first time. There were dump trucks, trash & recycle trucks, telephone line repair trucks...just to name a few. Even Ben got to see a little of the action.

Our Favorite Team
UNC plays Duke in a few hours so the boys are decked out in their Carolina blue!

Scott & Ben get some much needed sleep before the start of the game.

Unassisted Goal
Sam scored his second goal of the soccer season this morning. He ran up and kicked it straight in. He must have been excited on the inside because he just stood there until his coaches came over to give him a high five. After nap today, we’re going to work on his scoring dance!

Wow! That's a big horse!
cc
cc
On our way home from school yesterday, Sam noticed a bunch of police horses at the park near our house. He screamed with delight and couldn’t wait to get up to the park. As soon as we arrived, Sam took off running across the park so that he could see them better. But the moment he got close he immediately came to a halt. I think he underestimated the size of these animals. And to his defense, they were some LARGE horses. After about an hour of avoiding the horses, I got him close enough for a picture but there was no amount of time that was going to get him to pet them. For now, I think we’ll just love horses from a distance!

Our little weed
Our little (in age not size) Benjamin continues to grow like a weed. This morning we had his 6 month check-up. He’s doing great developmentally and after checking both his weight and head size twice (yep…they were right the 1st time around) he was given a clean bill of health.
His measurements are below:
Head – 18” (92%)
Length – 26 ½” (75%)
Weight – 17 lbs, 5 oz (50%)
*Ben’s doctor called him “fluffy” b/c he looks like he should weigh a lot more than he does.

Playground fun at St. Luke's Day School
cc
There were 2 weeks at the beginning of this school year that Sam did everything in his power to get out of going to school. But now, his happiest days are school days. Most of his classmates are the same as the previous year and he’s got 2 teachers that truly love their students. I’ve been volunteering at the school and was lucky enough to watch him interact with his classmates on the playground this past week. I know that 3 years old is very young, but he’s already made some wonderful friends.

Did you hear that?
It’s amazing what a second child can sleep through (and where they can sleep). This was taken right after Sadie had a barking attack at the UPS man. During this attack Sam was also running through the house yelling at the top of his lungs for Sadie to stop barking (thanks Sam for trying to keep the noise to a minimum). I went running into Ben’s room to make sure he didn’t get jolted awake…and there he lay sound asleep!
